New central unit RZ-24-05 – the design solution for hold-open systems

Hold open systems integrated in door closers to save space are very popular with buyers who value design. However, sustainability is often neglected, as the integrated electromagnets are not robust enough for some applications. Particularly in highly frequented places such as hospitals, kindergartens or schools, doors are often operated without much consideration, which can quickly lead to damage to the integrated hold-open function.

The consequence: the doors are held in place with a wooden wedge, for example. The fire protection function of the door is thus no longer given, which means a higher risk for the building and the people inside.

Flush-mounted central unit with small dimensions

With the new, small RZ-24-05 central, DICTATOR now offers a solution that uses the advantages of robust, external electromagnets and still meets the customer’s requirements for design in the commercial sector. The compact DICTATOR central unit RZ-24-05 for hold-open systems, together with the power supply and the electronics with triggering device, go into a standard flush-mounted box with a diameter of 60 mm.

The hand switch integrated in the central is compatible with most commercially available switch ranges, which have a switch cut-out of 55 x 55 mm without rounded corners. Our RZ-24-05 therefore fits perfectly into an existing or already planned electrical installation.

A great price advantage results from the fact that no extra flush-mounted hand switch has to be used and installed in addition to a hold-open central unit, such as with the larger RZ-24, if no surface-mounted central unit is installed next to the door.

Powerful and energy-efficient solution for fire and smoke doors

In combination with our fire detector series 4000, this hold-open system is also extremely efficient in terms of power consumption. Just 95 μA power consumption of the RM 4000 smoke detector, with which power consumption can be reduced by at least 99.6 % compared to our previous models RM 2000 / 3000.

Due to this low power consumption, the RZ-24-05, which has an output of 500 mA, can easily operate two double-leaf fire or smoke doors with 4 electromagnets and 6 smoke detectors.
