Internet-enabled control unit works with sliding door operator developed 30 years ago

DICTATOR makes maintenance of old systems very simple

Over the decades, DICTATOR has automated many sliding doors in the commercial sector

DICTATOR operators are often used in Lutro paint shops. In many cases, this involves the control unit C5 with the sliding door operator DICTAMAT 4000, which was developed about 30 years ago. It is still equipped with a position sensor for position detection. The paint shop at MOSOLF, one of the leading system service providers in the automotive industry in Europe, must be ready for use and functional at all times. The control unit has now ceased to function after 13 years. Repair was no longer possible as the components were no longer available. Normally, this would have meant that the entire operator system would have had to be replaced. But not with DICTATOR!

Control unit Multi Control is a true universal genius

The new control unit Multi Control for hinged and sliding door operators is state-of-the-art. At the same time, however, it is not above controlling old door and gate operators. In this case, it was simply a case of replacing the old C5 control unit with the new Multi Control. The entire operator system could be retained unchanged, because DICTATOR door operators have a very long service life. They are often in use for well over 20 years without any problems.

Setting and programming the control unit easily via tablet

The control unit was installed at Mosolf in a location that was difficult to access. The door area is not visible from there and the installer would have had to climb up the ladder to the control unit every time the programming had to be changed. In some cases, a second person would have been required to monitor the door area during the adjustment work. This is no longer necessary with the Multi Control. Once it has been installed and connected, all settings can be made conveniently from the ground via tablet or smartphone – and later corrections can even be made remotely via the internet if required.

The two sliding doors of the paint shop are reliably opened and closed by a DICTATOR door operator DICTAMAT 4000. Otherwise the paint spraying system stands still. The DICTAMAT 4000 is located on the left at the end of the rail.

Operator for sliding doors on paint shop

The paint shop is waiting for the next car. As soon as the car is in the paint booth, the doors must close again. Otherwise the line stops. DICTATOR door operators have been working reliably and trouble-free here for decades.

The new Multi Control control unit is already installed – in the same place as the old C5 unit. It is also physically separated from the control units for the paint shop. However, this installation position is not a disadvantage for commissioning and programming: the installer can connect to the control unit remotely via smartphone or tablet and carry out any adjustment work right in front of the door. The final positions are taught to the control unit by an automatic teach-in run.

Of course, you can also carry out the programming work directly on the display. But if the installer does it directly on the door using a tablet, he always has the door in view. There is no risk of someone accidentally walking through the door during this work. And you can always see immediately how a change affects the movement of the door. At the bottom right you can see the door operator DICTAMAT 4000, which continues to open and close the double-leaf sliding doors.
