Smoke and heat detectors
- Fire detectors (smoke or heat detectors) immediately report a fire to the central unit (RZ-24) and thus ensure that the hold-open system is triggered in time
- The smoke detector identifies a possible fire quickly and reliably on the basis of smoke development
- In some cases, heat detectors are also used – they register a rapid rise in temperature or recognise a certain threshold temperature which trigger them
- DICTATOR smoke and heat detectors must be replaced after 8 years of operation at the latest in order to ensure the full functionality of the hold-open system. In Germany, the obligation to replace fire detectors in hold-open systems is regulated by the standard DIN 14677
Fire detectors for replacement
On July 15th 2019 a number of approvals will expire in Germany and will no longer be renewed due to a change in regulations. However, for hold-open systems that have been installed under this approval, the protection still applies. Therefore, if for example, one of the installed smoke detectors no longer works properly or has been in use for 8 years and must be replaced, this is still possible – provided that the detector is replaced by the exact same model.
