Courtyard entrance gate with ascending hinges slams shut

After opening, the gate slams shut on its own due to the ascending hinges

As a result, the gate makes a lot of noise every time it closes, which “annoys” both the residents of the property and the neighbors. In addition to the noise disturbance, the customer was also very concerned about the accident risk. And sustainability was also important to him: after all, the gate should serve for many years and not keep breaking.

Customer searches the Internet for damping solutions for hinged gates with ascending hinges and finds DICTATOR

The hinged gate is part of a double-leaf courtyard entrance gate. The larger leaf is equipped with a hinged gate operator. The gate leaf that caused the customer trouble is usually reserved for pedestrian traffic and is therefore opened manually. It is approx. 2.15 m wide, weighs 70 kg and has a gradient of 5%.

DICTATOR has special adjustable oil dampers for such cases, which can dampen very high loads.

Optimal solution in this case: the gate closer DIREKT

In this case, however, the problem could be solved with a standard product from a different product range, the gate closer DIREKT, as the gradient was relatively low. The advantage for the customer: it is a cheaper solution than the oil damper. The DIREKT with 200 mm stroke was supplied with a force of just 200 N, which was specially set for this case, as the door’s own weight combined with the incline itself ensures that it closes. The DIREKT is solely responsible for damping the closing movement.

Since the DIREKT “door damper” started its job, there is no more slamming of the hinged door. Peace of mind for everyone, no risk of accidents and a long service life for the gate and lock.

The approx. 2.15 m wide hinged door has ascending hinges (approx. 5 % incline). Without the gate closer DIREKT, it would constantly slam shut.

The gate closer DIREKT works here as a door damper. Due to the relatively low gradient, it was possible to use it here instead of a more expensive oil damper (also from DICTATOR, of course).
