Gas springs as spare parts for classic cars

This BMW E30 325I convertible is just on the border between vintage and classic car. Nowadays almost everything is motorized, but back then the roof still had to be opened and closed by hand. And in order to be able to move the top at all, the cover had to be lifted first. Otherwise, the top could only be operated with the help of several people, because one of them would always have to hold it open. Even back then, when this car was built – between 1986 and 1993 – two gas springs did the job of pushing the cover up and keeping it up.

Now a replacement was needed because the original gas springs were no longer doing the job.
