DICTATOR V 1600 door check for fire and smoke protection doors

The ever increasing demands of modern architecture towards the size and design of glass of course also include the fire and smoke protection sector. However, planning often underestimates that, due to pressure and wind conditions in the buildings, man and material quickly meet their limits.

The standards for testing fire and smoke doors don’t take into consideration adverse air pressure conditions at the final place of installation. In case there is a too high air pressure, for example in interlocks in garages, the doors will not reliably close until entering the falling latch. Installers and operators try to solve this problem by either adjusting faster closing speeds or higher spring forces of the overhead door closers. This works as long as an opposite door or windows stay closed. If, however, these are open at the same time, the closing door will bang into the closed position without control. Too high closing speeds endanger the construction of the fire protection barriers and increase the risk for people to get crushed by the closing edge. Furthermore, the noise caused by the slamming doors is unbearable.

DICTATOR has a close cooperation with the door manufacturers Hörmann, Teckentrup, Novoferm, Domoferm and Schüco. Therefore mounting DICTATOR door checks on fire and smoke doors often is already in compliance with regulations – as a matter of course also for retrofitting already installed doors. This will finish with banging doors, will spare peoples’ nerves and the doors will always surely be closed (also see video on banging doors).
DICTATOR would be pleased to inform you about the actual possibilities of mounting a V 1600 door check.
