Intact school doors thanks to back checks

The DICTATOR back checks make sure the doors at the Ecole Voltaire are functioning.

In the German-French school École Voltaire in Berlin the heavy entrance doors with leafs of 2.2 x 1.3 m are exposed, again and again, to the rush of children who want to leave as fast as possible. The opening damping of the already mounted overhead door closers could not cope with this energy. Consequence of this were damaged overhead door closers and doors and the risk of injury for the children.

Therefore, the company HolzBauWerk in Wiebelsheim (Germany) commissioned DICTATOR to upgrade the doors with back checks. These reliably impede that doors open too fast or knock open and limit the maximum opening angle without having to mount dangerous tripping hazards on the floor like buffers.

Back checks

Back checks are used on doors or windows that can be blown open by wind, draft or even during normal operation. They dampen doors/windows in the opening direction and limit the opening angle. This prevents doors and windows from swinging open without control, prevents damage and protects people standing next to the door.

Various models cover a wide range of applications: from lightweight interior doors and windows to very large/heavy doors with high loads. Many models can be used in combination with overhead door closers and are optionally available with an integrated hold-open in the open position.
