Ex-proof hold-open systems by DICTATOR

in the newly built storehouse for chemicals of the University Göttingen

In the course of the fundamental reconstruction and restructuring of the Chemistry Department at the University Göttingen, a completely new, central storehouse was built for the chemicals needed for teaching and research. The safety aspect was on top of the list of requirements, along with the challenging task of integrating the storehouse in an optically appealing way in the university complex and ensuring functionality.

The fire protection doors in the chemical storehouse were equipped with DICTATOR hold-open systems, which allows the doors to stay open and not to hinder the smooth flow of procedures with closed doors. In the event of an emergency, the power supply of the electromagnets is cut and the doors close immediately and reliably. Because of explosion hazard in the storage rooms, all components of the hold-open systems installed there also had to be explosion proof.

The power supply of the 45 ex-proof smoke detectors was mounted in a separate room outside the hazardous area, together with the evaluation devices of the alarm signals. DICTATOR designed the complete hold-open system and also installed it.

The University Göttingen has already arranged for the prescribed annual maintenance to assure the future reliable functioning of the systems and the safety of people, buildings and environment.
