Selection criteria
The WAB 180-2 floor spring is available in five different models (size II – V for doors up to 500 kg, size VI up to 600 kg). Please indicate the dimensions and the approximate weight of the door and the opening direction according to DIN when ordering.
The following table will help you to choose the correct size for your application. All data refer to a door height of minimum 1.75 m and maximum 2.5 m, without wind load. In case of exterior doors exposed to wind or interior doors in surroundings with high pressure differences, please contact our technical customer service.

Floor spring WAB 180-2A
The dimensions of the new WAB 180-2 differ slightly from those of the previous WAB 180 with cast housing. Therefore, the new WAB 180-2 cannot be installed in an existing embedding box.
However, to make replacement work as uncomplicated as possible, the WAB 180-2A is supplied with a housing specially adapted to the old embedding boxes for replacement purposes. This version can be installed in the embedding box of the old WAB 180. Likewise, the existing cover plates can continue to be used.

Floor spring WAB 180-2: Explanation DIN right/left
Depending on the opening of the door you either need the right or left type of the WAB 180-2 floor spring. The designation DIN-right or DIN-left indicates the opening direction of the door. In order to determine it, you need to look at the door from the opening side. The right door leaf in the illustration shows a DIN-right door, because that is the fixed side.
Usually the floor spring is installed parallel to the door but shifted sideways. It can also be mounted with the axle directly below the door. For this purpose, a straight strap is required as an accessorie along with a swing hinge as the upper hinge.
Please make sure during installation that there is a stop installed in the closed position of the door.
For double-leaf door systems, a separate door sequence control must be installed.
Adjusting the closing speed
On the surface of the WAB 180-2 floor spring, there is a slotted screw (adjusting screw) centered on the side opposite to the axle (2).
The grub screw for adjusting the closing speed is located under the cover screw with sealing ring. The cover screw must be completely unscrewed in order to adjust the closing speed. It can be adjusted by turning the grub screw with a slotted screwdriver approximately 5 mm wide:
- Turn clockwise to reduce closing speed
- Turn counter-clockwise to increase closing speed

Procedure for a new installation
When mounting a new floor spring you should proceed as follows:
- Remove the cover screw of the adjusting screw (2).
- Untighten the screw to fill in the oil (1).
- Turn the adjusting screw counter-clockwise one turn to the left.
- Then, open and close the already mounted door two or three times.
- To adjust the closing speed turn the adjusting screw to the right (clockwise).
- Finally, screw in the cover screws so that they shut tightly.
Should a problem occur during the adjustment of the correct closing speed, repeat the aforementioned procedure in order to remove trapped air bubbles from the floor spring. It is important that the cover screws are screwed in firmly after each regulation procedure so that the cover is tightly shut. Otherwise oil could leak.
NOTE: The adjustable damping of the closing speed starts at a closing angle of 45°. There is a special model available which offers an adjustable damping of the closing speed during the complete closing.
