Standard Lift Door Dampers

The original DICTATOR Standard door checks stand out due to their very high quality and reliable functioning. The DICTATOR product range includes about 30 models – and still new, customized models are added.

The operational life of the DICTATOR door checks is far more than 1 million cycles. The adjoining illustration shows two DICTATOR lift door dampers Schindler Alu: one of them has already damped 1 million door closings!

Product information

Characteristics

  • The progressive damping behaviour ensures a quiet, optimal closing. This is only possible because the cylinders are turned from solid materials. Therefore, doors close without banging and do not spring back which could cause malfunctions or damage the door contacts.
  • The bearings of the operating arm are made of extremely resistant sintered iron.
  • The rubber roller is made of abrasion-proof rubber with a firmly moulded-in bush.
  • The operational life of the DICTATOR door checks is far more than 1 million cycles.

Functioning

When opening the door the operating arm is pushed downwards and thus tensions the spring in the damping cylinder of the door check. When the door is closed, e.g. by a torsion spring, the operating arm with the roller enters the inlet hook in the door frame.

The hydraulic damping cylinder prevents the slamming of the door: It dampens the closing movement of the door and closes the door softly and without noise.

Finally the door check closes the door completely and keeps it firmly closed by the integrated spring, even against wind or draughts, thus preventing failures of the lift due to a not completely closed landing door. This enables the electrical contacts in the door to work reliably and with minimum wear. Thereby the DICTATOR Standard lift door damper ensures the smooth functioning of the lift – and it prevents noise due to banging doors.

Installation

The DICTATOR lift door checks are mounted into the hinged lift door. For each of the different door makes the corresponding DICTATOR Standard lift door damper is available.

Some of the lift door dampers have a pin at the bottom of the casing which additionally helps to correctly position the casing in the door. Fixed is the casing with the two lateral fixing brackets.

Adjusting the Closing Speed

The closing speed of all DICTATOR Standard door checks can be adjusted to achieve optimum damping both with flush and overlapping doors. The damping cylinder is turned of solid material with a conical interior. Due to this the closing movement becomes the slower the further the piston enters into the cylinder (progressive damping).

By turning the piston rod with an Allen key you can change the final position of the piston in the cylinder. Turning clockwise: the final position of the piston is moved further down the cylinder. The door will now take longer to close. Turning anti-clockwise: the final position of the piston is moved further up the cylinder, the door closes faster. Two complete turns of the piston rod correspond to a change of the closing speed of about 1 second.
